While both angler and fisherman carry the same hobby of fishing, they differ from each other in a lot of ways. It depends of the purpose, method, and the time spent on catching the fishes as well as their quantities. Here are the ways a fisherman differs from an anglers.
Angler: Angler is a fisherman who uses fishing technique of angling. Angling is a method of fishing which means to angle or hook a fish. In this method, the hook is attached to a fishing line, which is attached to a fishing rod. The fishing rod is then fitted with a fishing reel. You must have seen people using a fishing rod during their picnic on the sea shore or near a lake. Angling is a principle method of sport fishing, but commercial fisheries also use angling methods such as longlining or trolling.
Fisherman: More than in a sport, this method is mostly used for business. In this method, the fisherman can use different methods of fishing such as net, hook, or even a spear. This type of fishing is generally used for getting fishes for eating or selling. It is not a hobby or a sport but a source of food or trade. Fishermen just try to get anything they can from the deep waters.
Angler: Angling is a method of waiting for a fish with the hook immersed inside the waters. In this method, the angler can only expect one fish at a time. It is generally done while being on a lakeside during a holiday and requires a lot of time, sometimes even a day to catch a dozen of fishes. Sometimes the anglers catch a fish for a hobby and then throw them back into waters after taking a picture.
Fisherman: In this method, the fishermen usually uses a boat to reach deep waters where they can find a lot of fishes and anything that they can find. Their main aim is to catch fishes in a larger quantity at once. Big nets are used to going deep and catching fishes, jellyfishes, octopuses, and more. All these fishes are either used for eating or selling in the market.
Angler: Anglers do not have any time limits or management for fishing. They mostly relax with the hook inside water until they catch a good fish. They can leave anytime but the time taken to catch one fish can be quick as well as can take the whole day.
Fisherman: Fishermen mostly go out in the seas and oceans for the whole day to catch as many fishes as they can. They are also faster in catching a bunch of fishes at once instead of catching them one by one.
After all the condsidering all the differences the only main different between both types of fishermen is that anglers just use hook which are also known as angles to catch the fish and the rest of the fishermen use nets, boxes to catch the fishes and other water species and pull them out of water.
